East Coast Avocet was where it all started. In 2014, I was looking for a new and exciting direction in life. A stimulating and creative alternative to the business that I had been in for 30 years. My innate love of seafood from an early age had underpinned my life in cookery, travel, imagination and inspiration. I yearned to be immersed in an industry that I related so closely and intimately to. My bond with the sea was already strong and just like the incoming tide, forceful, in how it pushed me and carried me along on a purposeful and exciting journey that beckoned me siren-like towards a new horizon.

Encouraged and guided by those close to me, I started to write - about my passion, my experiences new and old, to establish a connection to the fishermen from net to plate and to engage consumers along the way to try and rekindle the love for a food so natural, wild and precious that we had long lost the affinity for. So the blog was born and from shy and tentative beginnings in five years it has developed into the different media streams that now exist under my name.

If you share a love of our seafood, our coastlines, our fishing industry and their communities and heritage, I hope you won’t be disappointed. East Coast Avocet still exists and will always, but the time is right to evolve and taking the DNA from the original blog, I can now expand and engage with a new and wider audience here, via A PASSION FOR SEAFOOD.
